A Highland piper since the early 1990's, I played my first wedding in 1994. Since then, I've had experience with multiple weddings, funerals, birthday parties, corporate luncheons, Mason officer installations, graduation ceremonies and private parties, military memorials, church services, and was more recently invited to lead the Washtenaw Co. Sheriff Honor Guard in the July 4 parades in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.
As a competitor, I've won prizes in solo competitions over the years and have piped in the competition circles with the Glen Erin Pipe Band of Lansing and the former Ann Arbor Pipes & Drums, who's main focus was competitive playing.
In 2000, I branched out by taking up the Irish "uilleann" bagpipes and have since played them at various weddings and festivals, and once in concert with the West Michigan Symphony Orchestra (see my Videos page).
A "late bloomer" in terms of when I started playing the pipes, the latent interest flared up while in my early 40's when a friend told me she had found a teacher and was taking lessons. If you've also had this latent desire, it's never too late in life to start. I take beginner students and can help you get into this fascinating art.
